Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP): What’s New for 2025?

The Ontario government has introduced several exciting changes to the O-AMP this year to encourage broader participation. Most notably, the eligibility criteria related to automotive-sector revenues has been reduced. Companies now only need to derive 30% of their total sales from the automotive sector, down from the previous requirement of 50%. This significant reduction opens the door for many more Ontario businesses looking to enhance their competitiveness and modernize their operations.

Additionally, Ontario businesses can now start incurring eligible expenses as early as July 22, 2025, the final day of the application intake period. However, companies choosing to incur expenses before receiving formal approval do so at their own risk, as funding is not guaranteed until official acceptance.
