This Program Has No Official Maximum Funding Amount

The Skills Development Fund (SDF) contributes to the development and implementation of innovative workforce development projects to address the challenges of the labour market in Ontario.
This stream provides eligible applicants with grant funding to build, upgrade, and/or convert existing building into skilled trades training centres to address the labour market shortages for in-demand roles.

There are no maximum or minimum funding amounts. Projects with $150K+ budget will be prioritized.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible Applicants

Applicants may be eligible for funding if they meet the following criteria:

  • Ontario Non-Profits or For-Profits including – industry associations and unions;
  • Training Delivery Agents (Colleges and Universities who are publicly assisted may only apply as a co-applicant with a group from another one of the eligible categories);
  • Municipalities, Trade unions / union-affiliated organizations; and
  • Consortiums are also eligible.

Eligible Activities

A funding application must demonstrate that the funds will be used to:

  • Support access to the labor market in order to create a resilient workforce;
  • Provide job opportunities to workers facing higher entry barriers; or
  • Address the labour shortage, the economy needs to be encouraged to form partnerships and support innovative ideas and training solutions.
