The Alberta – SCAP – Emerging Opportunities Grant Program contributes to the Government of Alberta’s strategic objectives to grow and develop Alberta’s value-added agriculture sector. In addition to supporting innovation projects, the program also supports projects that have a significant economic impact on the sector and company growth.

Apply for This Funding Program

Give your application the best chance of approval. Ryan supports the writing of applications for more than 100 Canadian federal and provincial government grants, tax credits, and no-interest loan programs.

Amount of Funding

Eligible applicants may receive up to a maximum of $1M per fiscal year, to a project maximum of $2M:

  • 25% for approved capital expenses;
  • 50% for approved non-capital expenses; and
  • Processors cannot apply to more than one Alberta CAP program for the same project expenses.

Applicants may be eligible if they meet this criteria:

  • Registered and operating in Alberta;
  • In good standing in accordance with applicable legislation; and
  • An agriculture or bio-industrial processor, or an industry organization.
Accessible Technology Program (ATP)

Eligible Activities

Projects may be eligible if they fall under these parameters:

  • Projects conducted by agriculture and bio-industrial processors must have a minimum total project investment of $2 million;
  • Industry organizations do not have a minimum total project investment value;

Eligible projects must include one or a combination of the following activities:

  • Equipment and engineering related to new processing facilities and significant expansion projects that increase processing capacity in Alberta;
  • Initiatives that explore market opportunities and directly address barriers to export and new market access;
  • Activities that promote collaboration amongst companies to grow the sector; and
  • Any other activity deemed eligible by the Minister that supports an emerging opportunity in the sector.
