Amount of Funding
The Agri-Tech Innovation Initiative provides cost-shared funding of up to 50% of eligible project costs, to a maximum contribution of $100,000 for approved innovation technology and equipment projects.
The program supports investments that help agricultural producers and food processors adopt innovative technologies, equipment, and processes that improve operational efficiency, increase production capacity, and strengthen business competitiveness.
For certain larger-scale projects, funding may be available at 35% of eligible project costs, up to the same maximum contribution of $100,000.
Funding amounts are determined based on:
- Total eligible project expenditures
- Type of technology or equipment being adopted
- Expected productivity and efficiency improvements
- Project scope and business impact
- Alignment with program objectives
Applicants are responsible for funding the remaining project costs through internal resources or other eligible financing sources.

The Agri-Tech Innovation Initiative supports agricultural and food-processing businesses seeking to modernize operations through technology adoption and innovation.
Eligible applicants may include:
- Primary agricultural producers
- Farms and agricultural operations
- Food and beverage processors
- Agri-food businesses
- Agricultural partnerships and corporations
- Indigenous agricultural enterprises
To qualify, applicants must generally:
- Operate within Canada’s agriculture or food-processing sector
- Be actively engaged in commercial agricultural production or food processing
- Be in good standing with applicable regulatory requirements
- Demonstrate the capacity to complete and fund the proposed project
The program is intended for businesses that are pursuing technology-driven improvements that increase productivity, operational performance, and long-term competitiveness within the agri-food sector.

A key focus of the program is supporting projects that improve cybersecurity within the agriculture and food sector. Eligible cybersecurity-related investments may include:
- Network security enhancements
- Cybersecurity monitoring systems
- Data protection technologies
- Secure operational technology infrastructure
- Digital risk management solutions
- Cybersecurity software and hardware upgrades
Projects should demonstrate measurable benefits related to productivity, efficiency, capacity expansion, or risk reduction.
