SCAP Manitoba – Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program

Receive up to $15,000 in Agriculture Project Funding.

Through the Manitoba Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP), beneficial on-farm land use and management practices can be accelerated to increase the environmental resilience of agricultural landscapes. This program provides financial assistance to increase carbon sequestration from practices related to agroforestry and grassland management.

Access up to 75% of total eligible expenses up to a maximum of $15,000 per project.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants may be eligible for this program if they meet the following criteria:

  • Association of Manitoba Community Pastures;
  • Indigenous primary producers and communities;
  • Primary producers outside of Watershed District boundaries; and
  • Only for Grasslands and Grazing Management stream: Agricultural Crown Land forage lease holders – they must include a letter of support for the project from their Farm Production Extension Specialist.
Accessible Technology Program (ATP)

Eligible Activities

Agroforestry BMP stream: This BMP aims promote the establishment of shelterbelts and block tree plantings that provide:

  • Enhanced carbon sequestration;
  • Reduced soil erosion;
  • Improved water conservation efforts;
  • Energy conservation (e.g., heating costs for home, barn, shop, etc.);
  • Improved wildlife habitat;
  • Increased crop yields;
  • Thermal protection for livestock; and
  • Reduced surface runoff and enhanced water quality.

Grasslands and Grazing Management BMP stream: As Effective management of water sources and installation of cross-fencing facilitates improved grazing management; implementation of the BMP will result in:

  • Increased productivity and economic gains;
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Reduced stream-bank degradation;
  • Improved nutrient and water retention;
  • Improved biodiversity and wildlife habitat; and
  • Improved soil and water quality.
