The Ontario Government has announced $8M in new funding over 3 years to support Ontario apple, tender fruit, table grape, and grape wine growers through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP) Growing Future Opportunities Initiative. The funding is intended to help growers plant varieties of produce that will improve quality, production, and marketability.

Successful applicants may receive up to 75% of cost coverage or a maximum of $50,000.

Eligible applicants must be an Ontario grower of apple, tender fruit, or table grapes.

Accessible Technology Program (ATP)

Eligible Activities

Eligible Projects for this program may include:

  • Replacement of existing varieties with different varieties of tender fruit trees, apple trees, or table grapes.
  • The trees and vines being replaced must have been in commercial production within the last 3 years.
  • Growers need to replant in the same location they removed the trees and vines from.

Improvements must help achieve:

  • Better alignment with changing consumer preferences;
  • Increased yields;
  • Improved cold hardiness;
  • Improved resistance to pests and diseases; and
  • Improved labor efficiency.
