The Government of Canada believes that electrification is crucial to decarbonizing the transportation sector and transitioning to a low-carbon future. In efforts to tackle this initiative, Natural Resources Canada has administered a new program called the Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). The program is designed to increase a network of zero-emission vehicle charging and refueling stations in more localized areas where Canadians live, work, and play and in multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces, or light-duty vehicle fleets.

Public Places and On-Street Parking
Up to 50% of total project costs up to a maximum of $5,000,000 per project. The minimum funding ask is $100,000.

Eligibility criteria differs for each of the two streams:
Multi-Unit Residential Buildings, Workplaces, or Light-Duty Vehicle Fleets

Eligible Activities
Eligible activities are determined by the stream applicants are applying under:
Multi-Unit Residential Buildings, Workplaces, or Light-Duty Vehicle Fleets
Supports EV charging and hydrogen refueling stations. Must install a minimum of 20 charging ports. Valid charging options:
- AE J1772 standard plug head (Level 2 (208/240 V)
- SAE J1772 Combo (for fast-charging stations)
- CHAdeMO (for fast-charging stations)
Public Places and On-Street Parking
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure deployment in parking areas intended for public use. Parking areas can be privately or publicly owned and operated. Electric vehicle charging infrastructure deployment for on-street and curbside charging is also eligible. Valid charging options:
- Level 2 (208 / 240 V) charging station
- Fast-charging station (from 20 kW to < 50 kW)
- Fast-charging station (from 50 kW and above)
