The Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) supports collaborative research and development projects that lead to commercialization of new products, services, or processes. CIIP seeks to match Canadian businesses with international partners in Brazil, China, India, Israel, and South Korea to achieve synergistic benefits.

Eligible Applicants
For-profit SMEs (<500 employees) who are creating technologies with an international R&D partner for healthcare, cleantech, water tech, ICT, and manufacturing technologies.
Each partner country has its own application deadline, with Calls for Proposals announced periodically.
Successful applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $15,000 per approved Partnership Development Activities (PDA) project.
Eligible Applicants
To be eligible for the CIIP, Canadian companies must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Companies must incorporated and a business that is a for-profit small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) (<500 employees);
- Seeking to develop new or improved products, services, or processes with a high potential for commercialization;
- Applicants should own or be a co-owner of the intellectual property (IP) of the technology set to be commercialized; and
- Ready to collaborate on a R&D project with foreign partners for healthcare, cleantech, water tech, ICT, and manufacturing technologies.
Eligible Activities
Activities may be eligible if they meet the requirements listed below:
- Projects are associated with collaborative research and development projects, eligible expenses may be the following:
- Economy class airfare;
- Accommodations for the stay;
- Meals (per diems) but must reflect a necessary cost;
- Local transportation;
- Services related to translation and marketing materials;
- Fees related to the conference and tradeshow; and
- Costs incurred for photocopies or printed material.
- Activities must be done in collaboration with foreign partners; and
- Activities should have the potential for commercialization.
Eligible R&D collaborative projects may be performed with:
- Brazil;
- China;
- India;
- Israel; and
- South Korea.
