Alberta Innovates offers the Product Demonstration Program to businesses located in Alberta that have commercialization-ready, innovative technology in the industries of: energy, environment, nanotechnology, information and communication services, health, and life sciences such as forestry, agriculture and biotechnology.

Successful applicants for the PDP program may receive up to 50% to maximum of $150,000 in a matching contribution to total eligible costs.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are a Small and medium sized enterprise (SME) that is for-profit (less than 500 employees and $50 million in annual revenues);
  • There is no conflict of interest between the applicant and their partner;
  • Is an Alberta-based organization;
  • Is financially capable of making the required applicant contribution; and
  • Is a legal entity in good financial standing with Alberta Innovates and their subsidiaries.
Accessible Technology Program (ATP)

Eligible Activities

All projects must meet these requirements to be approved for funding by Alberta Innovates:

  • Can demonstrate a significant product pilot that has a simple acceptance criteria;
  • Has at least one product pilot strategic partner;
  • Will finish the product pilot within one year of project approval;
  • A project plan will be outlined upon approval with identifiable milestones;
  • Demonstrate that the product is highly likely to be purchased for or distributed by any strategic partners within 1.5 years of project acceptance; and
  • Product must be at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7, 8, or 9.
