Receive up to $50,000 in Government Funding.

The Government of Manitoba has announced a new hiring wage program that aims to encourage employees to get vaccinated and return to work. The program will offer active Manitoba-based businesses up to $5,000 per employee to a maximum $50,000 for 10 employees to help offset the wages of rehired or new employees who have received their COVID-19 vaccines or who can confirm that they have at least one vaccine booked.

There are two sets of eligibility requirements for the Healthy hire Manitoba applicants; Eligible Employers and Eligible Employees:

Eligible Employers:

  • Must be a permanent business physically located in Manitoba that is either a sole-proprietorship, partnership, corporations, or a not-for-profit;
  • Has a valid CRA business number or Charity registration number;
  • Currently has an active Canadian business bank account;
  • Has an email address to maintain communications; and
  • Has to be able to declare and prove that the organization has followed all public health protocols in the workplace, i.e supplying valid vaccine information to employees.

Eligible Employees:

  • A current permanent resident of Manitoba that is a new hire to the organization (has not worked for the employee earlier since June 10, 2021);
  • Foreign workers may be eligible if they are legally entitled to work in Canada and have valid work permits that must be presented when requested; and
  • Is being directly employed by the applicant employer (Insurable Employment).

Eligible wages for this program are reflected below:

  • All regular, overtime, and statutory holiday wages (for both hourly and salary employees);
  • Bonuses;
  • Incentives and commission payments; and
  • Meal, lodging, and travel allowances.
