Tourism Growth Program
Receive up to $250K in Government Funding Support.
The Tourism Growth Program supports communities, SMEs and not-for-profit (NFP) organizations in developing local tourism products and experiences. The Reginal Development Agencies are working in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and tourism partners to ensure the program is complementary to other supports for the tourism industry, helping to diversify regional economies and contributes to Canada’s economic growth.

Funding Amount
Up to 50% to a maximum of $250K in funding support. Funding is repayable for for-profit businesses and non-repayable for not-for-profit organizations.
Eligible Applicants
Program will provide funding to: small and medium enterprises in the tourism industry; indigenous-owned businesses; not-for-profit organizations; and governments.
Eligible Activities
Eligible projects include: developing innovative tourism offerings, integrating digitization and technology to boost efficiency and competitiveness, enhancing accessibility for diverse clients, improving local tourism assets and outdoor experiences, and supporting community festivals that attract tourists year-round.
Amount of Funding
- Up to 50% of total eligible costs to a maximum of $250,000.
- SMEs funding is normally a fully repayable, interest-free contribution.
- NFPs funding is normally a non-repayable contribution.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants include:
- Incorporated SMEs operating in the tourist industry;
- Indigenous-owned businesses (including Indigenous sole proprietors) or Indigenous tourism organizations;
- NFP organizations (including tourism associations and economic development organizations); and
- Governments (municipal/provincial/territorial and related entities).
Eligible Activities
Tourism Business:
- improving/creating new or innovative tourism offerings or products;
- investing in digitization or technology integration to enhance productivity, sustainability, efficiency and/or competitiveness;
- developing and delivering new products, services or experiences to increase tourism activity outside of the traditional high season or to extend services year-round; and
- enhancing accessibility, creating a welcoming environment for diverse clientele.
NFP Tourism Organization:
- developing/implementing long-term tourism plans, based on research and market analysis;
- improving local assets, facilities, and/or planning for key active outdoor tourism experiences;
- facilitating the growth of off-season tourism;
- supporting the delivery of local community festivals and events that attract tourists to a destination; and
- developing/increasing capacity for tourism businesses to provide inclusive tourism experiences.
Eligible Costs:
- Machinery and equipment;
- Project facility and infrastructure leasehold improvements;
- Labour;
- Professional expertise;
- Marketing and outreach;
- Training; or
- Materials.
