Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstration (EVID) Program

Administered by Natural Resources Canada, the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstration (EVID) Program is designed to accelerate the next generation of clean energy infrastructure and bring them to market for consumers. It supports demonstrations of next-generation and innovative electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

Funding Amount
Up to 50% support of eligible project expenses to a maximum contribution between $250k to $3M in Canadian government funding.
Eligible Applicants
Canadian privately-held legal entities, including companies, associations, community groups, academia, research associations, and governments.
Amount of Funding
Successful Applicants for the EVID programs may receive the following funding contributions:
- Up to 50% of total project costs per project to a maximum of 3M;
- Minimum funding that may be requested through EVID is $250K; and
- Applicants can make a projects timeline extend for up to one year following the end of EVID program funding, though no funding will be provided after March 31, 2022.
Eligible Applicants
The following criteria must be met to be an eligible applicant:
- Legal entities registered in Canada, such as utilities, companies, research associations, etc.;
- Provincial, territorial, and regional/municipal governments and their departments/ agencies are eligible; and
- Proof of legal Canadian status is required upon proposal submission.
Eligible Activities
The following activities may be eligible for funding:
- Installation of a permanent pre-commercial technology that is intended to remain in it’s operational environment for a minimum of five years upon project completion;
- Modifying existing equipment, systems, and processes to allow for an innovative technology or process; and
- Installing equipment/infrastructure that is directly related to the demonstration(s).
