AI Compute Access Fund

Amount of Funding

  • Funding ranges between $100K to $5M
    • Contributions will cover up to two-thirds of the eligible costs for Canadian AI compute services, and up to 50% of the eligible costs for non-Canadian AI Compute services
  • Financial support in one of three forms: non-repayable, conditionally repayable, or repayable
    • Non-repayable funding may be available for projects that align with program goals, offer strong public benefits, and carry manageable risk
    • Repayable funding may apply if public benefits are limited
    • In some cases, repayment may be waived if key milestones—like commercialization or Canadian IP—are achieved
AI Compute Access Fund

Eligible Applicants

  • Be a Canadian-registered for-profit company developing AI products or services
  • Have less than 500 FTEs
  • Be revenue-generating and/or have at least Series A investment
  • Have an R&D team based in Canada and conduct project activities in Canada
  • Have contracts, invoices, or documentation for compute services in place or in progress at the time of application

Eligible Activities

  • Training: Using cloud-based compute to train and refine AI models before commercial launch
  • Inference: Leveraging cloud services to deliver inference capabilities for end users
  • Other Related Activities: Modifying, improving, or fine-tuning existing AI models using cloud-based compute
