Manitoba Export Development Program (EDP)

Amount of Funding

The Manitoba Export Development Program (EDP) provides cost-shared funding covering up to 50% of eligible project expenses, to a maximum contribution of $30,000 per approved application.

The program is designed to help Manitoba businesses expand into new domestic and international markets by reducing the costs associated with export development activities. Funding supports participation in trade events, market exploration initiatives, and activities that help businesses build relationships with potential customers and partners outside of Manitoba.

The amount of funding awarded depends on factors such as:

  • Total eligible project costs
  • Proposed export development activities
  • Target markets and growth opportunities
  • Expected business outcomes and export potential
  • Available program funding

Applicants are responsible for funding the remaining project costs and must demonstrate their ability to complete the proposed activities.

Program Deadline

The Manitoba Export Development Program operates through an ongoing rolling intake, allowing businesses to apply throughout the year, subject to available funding.

Applications must generally be submitted at least 60 days before the start date of the proposed trade show, trade mission, or export development activity. Late applications may not be considered.

Given the competitive nature of funding and limited program budgets, businesses are encouraged to begin planning well in advance and submit complete applications as early as possible.

Applicants should be prepared to provide:

  • A detailed project description
  • Event or activity information
  • A project budget outlining eligible expenses
  • Revenue and business information
  • Export objectives and expected outcomes
  • Supporting documentation demonstrating market readiness

Organizations considering participation in future trade events should consult with a Ryan government funding advisor to confirm current program requirements, funding availability, and application timelines.
