FedDev Ontario – Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII)
Receive up to $5M in Government Funding.
Through FedDev Ontario’s Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII) program, businesses located in Ontario can receive funding for artificial intelligence (AI) projects that can optimize their business’ products, technologies, systems, and processes. Available via two separate pillars, AI Productization and Commercialization and AI Adoption. Eligible applicants can apply for AI support for one or both pillar programs.

Apply for This Funding Program
Give your application the best chance of approval. Ryan supports the writing of applications for more than 100 Canadian federal and provincial government grants, tax credits, and no-interest loan programs.
Amount of Funding
Funding available is via a fully repayable, interest-free loan of up to $2.5 million or up to $5 million for support of up to 50% of eligible project costs, depending on pillar stream.
Eligible Applicants
For both pillar streams of the RAII program, eligible applicant criteria includes:
- Small- and medium-sized enterprises, including eligible start-ups
– Contributions will most likely be repayable - Not-for-profit organizations
– Contributions will most likely be non-repayable - Businesses that are incorporated in Canada or Ontario
Eligible Projects
AI Productization and Commercialization Stream.
Eligible projects include:
- Focused on bringing to market new and innovative AI/AI-driven solutions (TRL 6 and above).
- Increase the capacity of developers of AI/AI-driven solutions to grow through market expansion.
AI Adoption Stream.
Eligible projects include:
- Acquiring and integrating AI solutions.
- Improving governance and adopting best management practices.
- Upgrading equipment, improving digital infrastructure, re-engineering processes
- Accessing AI expertise.
- Building capacity and training (not duplicative of other government support programs).
- Strengthening cybersecurity measures.
- Establishing guidelines/frameworks/committees to ensure the responsible use of AI.
