FedDev Ontario 2025 Intake Is Now Open

FedDev Ontario is officially accepting applications for its 2025 intake, marking an important moment for businesses and organizations across southern Ontario. Whether you’re already working on a FedDev‑supported initiative or just getting started, your project needs its own, separate application. 

Eligible applicants can access interest-free, unconditionally repayable funding between $125,000 to $10 million for support of up to 50% of eligible project costs. 

Driven by the Ontario government and delivered federally, the FedDev Ontario program offers repayable contributions and grants to power innovation, clean growth, and inclusive economic development.

Now that applications are open, organizing your next distinct project and submission is more important than ever. 

Funding Snapshot: FedDev Ontario 

Program Objectives: 

The FedDev Ontario programs aims to support Canadian-business innovation, productivity, clean economic growth, inclusive job creation, and regional competitiveness across southern Ontario. 

Funding Amount: 

  • For businesses: no-interest repayable contributions from $125,000 to $10 million per project. 
  • For Francophone not-for-profits (EDI stream): non-repayable contributions up to $500,000, covering up to 70% of eligible costs. 

Eligible Applicants: 

  • Incorporated for-profit businesses in southern Ontario. 
  • Francophone or bilingual not-for-profit organizations serving Francophone communities. 

Eligible Projects: 

  • Innovation (in sectors such as AI, clean technology, digital health, agri‑tech), productivity improvements, scaling businesses, industrial transition, zero‑emission vehicle supply chain, and/or Francophone economic diversification. 

Timeline: 

  • Current intake is open now.  
  • Previous intake closed December 20, 2024; next expected close is in late 2025, but applications are being accepted now for eligible programs. 

FedDev Ontario Application Rules You Need to Know 

FedDev Ontario welcomes new applications, but there are two critical rules: 

  1. If you already have an active project with FedDev Ontario, your next application must be for a completely distinct project. 
  2. Only one application is allowed at a time per business or organization, across all open programs 

How to Prepare for Your FedDev Ontario Application 

Start with Intake Rules:  

Confirm that your new project is distinct from any active one with FedDev and be ready to submit only one application at a time.

Gather Documentation:  

  • For for-profits, you’ll need audited financial statements for the last two years plus interim statements, three‑ to five‑year financial projections, project work plan, job creation estimates, IP strategy (if applicable), organizational charts, leadership bios and more. 
  • Not-for-profits need similar documentation, such as financials, budgets, work plan, job breakdowns, IP strategy, by-laws, and letters of support. 

Use the Application Guide:  

Download the relevant guide and leave question 22 blank, FedDev assigns your project’s program stream (such as Business Scale‑up and Productivity or Community Economic Development and Diversification).  

Express Interest Early:  

Your business can contact FedDev Ontario ahead of time to discuss eligibility and refine your application. They recommend reaching out as early as possible. Let the Ryan government funding team help you!
