Canada 150 Grants Aid Community Infrastructure Upgrades in Mississauga

The City of Mississauga has been awarded up to $2.5 million in government grants to upgrade community infrastructure. The Government of Canada’s investment will support the creation of safe, more accessible playgrounds and community centres. These renovations will help mark Canada’s 150^th anniversary and provide enhanced public services.

Mississauga will receive this funding through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). The program was established to support community infrastructure projects to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary.

The $2.5M federal contribution will support 28 infrastructure projects in Mississauga, including the improvement of local parks, trails, and community centres. Each project will help Canadian’s celebrate Canada’s 150^th anniversary, while creating spaces to enjoy moments of culture, sport, recreation, and leisure for years to come.

Mississauga Awarded $2.5M in Canada 150 Infrastructure Grants

Known for its multi-use trails, parks, and community centres, Mississauga is the sixth largest city in Canada and is located metropolitan within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The city is home to over 700,000 residents and is recognized for its multicultural population.

Using the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) will allow the City of Mississauga to leverage up to $2.5M in Canadian government grants. This will support the renovation, expansion, and overall improvement of existing community infrastructure.

In all, these Canada 150 grants will allow the city to rehabilitate 5 trails, upgrade 17 parks/playgrounds, and renovate 6 public service buildings. By executing these projects, Mississauga will create a safer environment for city residents and visitors.

Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Grants for Municipalities

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program was developed to help municipalities invest in infrastructure upgrades and expansion initiatives. The program is available to municipal governments and aboriginal communities across the country.

CIP 150 provides up to 50-75% of eligible infrastructure project expenses, however program funding has already been depleted in some Canadian regions and may no longer accept new applications.
