CleanBC Custom Incentives – Capital Incentive Stream
Receive up to $250,000 in Government Funding.
A key objective of CleanBC Custom Incentives – Capital Incentive Stream is to reduce GHG emissions from fuel-switching and other electrification measures (such as heat reclaim systems) that result in significant reductions in fossil fuel use in the future.
Quick View
Funding Amount
Incentives will be capped at the lesser of 50% of a project’s incremental cost, or to the point where the payback for the measure is less than 4 years after the incentive.
Eligible Applicants
There must be a building in the BC Hydro service territory, which includes New Westminster, to be eligible for this program. In order for a project to qualify as an energy measure, it must meet key required criteria.
Amount of Funding
The following funding allotments may be available for successful applicants:
- $40/tC02e of lifetime GHG savings up to $200,000 per customer.
- $50/tC02e of lifetime GHG savings up to $250,000 for Northern customers.
- Incentives will be capped at the lesser of 50% of a project’s incremental cost, or to the point where the payback for the measure is less than 4 years after the incentive.
Eligible Applicants
A BC Hydro Key Account Manager (KAM) is assigned to the account. During the pre-screening phase, the project must demonstrate that it has the potential to implement measures at a single facility that will lead to at least 1,200 tC02e of reduction in lifetime energy consumption. There must be a building in the BC Hydro service territory, which includes New Westminster, to be eligible for this program.
In order for a project to qualify as an energy measure, it must meet the following criteria:
- Assist in reducing greenhouse gas emissions on a net basis;
- As a result, measurable and verifiable energy impacts can be achieved;
- It will result in energy impacts that can be estimated using standard engineering calculations as a result of the project; and
- Include a technology that is not included in other utility DSM programs, such as FortisBC’s Commercial Performance Program, which is not covered by other DSM programs.
The proposed projects must be based on proven technologies which are commercially available and have a reasonable rate of adoption in the marketplace. It is not possible to purchase equipment before the Capital Incentive Agreement has been finalized and signed.
Eligible Activities
Custom incentives are offered to support the implementation of energy conservation measures, as identified in the energy study.
